This does not generate mind maps. Tools that do exist — and the drawing is the part that does the work, which is worth knowing before you outsource it.
Straight answer: not a feature here, and not planned. What you get is a summary, and an outline — a nested hierarchy of the video's main points with what supports them.
An outline is a mind map that has not been drawn yet. Which raises the question worth this page: is the drawing doing anything, or is it decoration?
What a mind map is supposed to do
The claim behind the format is that spatial arrangement helps you hold structure in mind — branches, proximity and grouping carrying information that a list does not.
There is something to that for material with genuine structure. A subject with four themes that each connect to two others is awkward as a list and clear as a diagram, because the connections are the content.
But the benefit people report from mind mapping comes largely from making one. That is the same principle behind the IES practice guide on organising instruction, which puts retrieval and the effort of reconstruction ahead of re-reading a finished document. Deciding what the central node is, what hangs off it, and which branches connect is an act of comprehension. You cannot place a concept without having decided what it relates to.
A generated map hands you somebody else's decisions, prettily arranged. It looks like the artefact, and the thinking that made the artefact valuable did not happen.

The same argument as generated notes
This is not a special objection to mind maps. It is the pattern that runs through everything on this site.
Generated lecture notes solve transcription, which was never the valuable part of note-taking. Generated flashcards solve card-writing, which is where the retrieval work lives. A generated mind map solves drawing, which is where the structuring work lives.
In each case the automation removes a real cost and, if you let it, the thing the cost was buying. The useful version keeps the automation for the mechanical half and does the judgement half yourself.

Five minutes, using the outline
- Generate an outline of the video. That gives you the main points and their supporting material, already nested.
- Read it and close it. This matters — you are about to test what you retained.
- Draw the centre and the main branches from memory. Paper is fine. What you can recall is what you understood.
- Open the outline again and fill the gaps. The branches you could not remember are exactly where your understanding is thin.
- Add the connections the outline does not have — links between branches, and links to things you already knew.
Step five is the part no generator can do for you, because it depends on what is already in your head. It is also the part that makes a mind map worth more than a list.

When a generated map is genuinely fine
Not an argument that they are useless. Three cases where the objection does not apply.
Navigating rather than learning. A visual index of a long video you will dip into is a reference, not a study aid, and nobody claimed otherwise.
Presenting to other people. A diagram of material you already understand, for an audience. The understanding happened before the diagram.
A starting shape you will rearrange. If you take a generated map and move things because you disagree with the arrangement, that disagreement is the thinking. That works.
What does not work is generating a map, looking at it, feeling that the topic is now clear, and moving on. That feeling tracks how tidy the diagram is, not what you could now explain.
If you want one generated anyway
Reasonable, and easy. Two routes.
A tool that does it directly. Several summarizers generate mind maps as an output format — NoteGPT publishes this among its features, and if it is the output you want, that is the right product rather than this one.
Convert an outline. Most mind-mapping software imports indented text or Markdown and turns each level of indentation into a branch. An exported outline goes in directly, which means you can use whichever mapping tool you already like.

What no mind map from a video can contain
The standing limit applies here too, and is easy to forget when the output looks structured and confident.
A map built from a video is built from the caption track. If the lecture's actual structure was drawn on a board, none of it is there. The map reflects what was said, and on a heavily visual subject that can be a confident diagram of the wrong thing.
Which videos map well at all
Worth checking before the exercise, because a lot of video has no structure for a map to represent.
Maps well: a lecture with named sections, a talk built on three arguments, anything comparing several options against several criteria. Structure the speaker imposed deliberately.
Maps badly: conversations, podcasts, narrative content, anything proceeding by association rather than hierarchy. Forcing a map onto those produces a diagram that looks organised and asserts relationships nobody claimed.
That last failure is worth watching for in generated maps specifically. A flat list of topics drawn as a radial diagram looks far more structured than the video was, and the structure came from the layout engine rather than from the content.

A note on what this page is not claiming
Not that mind maps are ineffective, or that people who use them are fooling themselves. The format works, for material with real structure, for people it suits.
The narrower claim is that the benefit is concentrated in the act of building one, and a tool that builds it for you has automated the part worth doing while leaving you the part that was never the point.
